Round-up play-offs Hoofdklasse (H): Rotterdam and Kampong in final

The four play-off candidates today fought for a ticket to the final of the play-offs in two decisive duels. Rotterdam won in Amsterdam (2-3), whilst Kampong was too strong in Bloemendaal (0-2).  This means that the top two sides through the regular season have been eliminated from the competition, Bloemendaal and Amsterdam. Kampong (4th) and Rotterdam (3rd) will compete in the grand final next week.

Amsterdam – Rotterdam 2-3 (0-1)

Rotterdam came into this match with an attitude of fast flowing attacking hockey and was rewarded on the 15 minute when Simon Egerton put Rotterdam ahead after some great build up play.  Robert Tigges brought AHBC back level halfway through the second half to inject some oomph in the their attack, but seven minutes before time, Rotterdam captain Jeroen Hertzberger restored the lead for the men in green before Paul Melkert tipped home to extend the lead after some world class stick skill by Seve van Ass, 1-3.   With two minutes remaining Amsterdam reduced the deficit through a Mirco Pruyser penalty corner, but time ran out for Amsterdam and Rotterdam advanced to the final to take on Kampong.

Bloemendaal – Kampong 0-2 (0-0)

A goalless first half after some end to end hockey quickly passed bwith both teams searching hard to open the scoring. Three minutes in to the second half and Kampong’s Bjorn Kellerman breaks the deadlock to put the visitors up 0 – 1 after some good work down the left from Constantijn Jonker.  With two minutes left of the match, Robbert Kemperman ensured the Kampong party wasn’t to be gatecrashed with a deftly finish with his back hand to make the score 0-2.
