Hugo Genestet fails doping control test

Blues midfielder Hugo Genestet (28) underwent a positive doping control after the indoor final on February 9, while playing in the jersey of the Amicale Anderlecht. Traces of cocaine were detected in his analyzes as well as during the second opinion which he immediately requested.

French international risks a suspension of 4 years.

It is in any case the sanction imposed on Evgeny Kuznetsov, the Russian ice hockey player of the Washington Capitals, by the International Hockey Federation (IIHF), in August 2019. On June 26, Genestet who plays for the Waterloo Ducks during the outdoor season, was temporarily suspended pending trial before the judge at the end of July. The ARBH as well as the disciplinary commission were warned. The Blues player sent an email to his coach and teammates earlier this week announcing that he is retiring from the team.

“It’s a very sad story,” said Géry Dohmen, the President of Brabant. “The club obviously cannot condone such actions which tarnish the image of hockey. But we respect the presumption of innocence since Hugo repeated that he had not ingested this substance. “
