Hannah Martin will say goodbye to England & Great Britain for at least one season as she is set to join Hurley in next year’s team as a foreign draft pick, joining a host of other players moving overseas.
Martin, still playing in the English Premier League at Surbiton has helped her club become the dominant force of recent times. Martin, who plays as a midfielder for both club and country, has set her sights on Hurley, and the Dutch Hoofdklasse, as she looks to progress and improve as a player in the Worlds most prominent league.
With 77 international matches to her name (37 GB and 40 England), Martin takes a lot of experience to her new club. Speaking to Hockey World News, she said “I’m really looking forward to joining Hurley next season. It is a fantastic club with great people & I can’t wait for the new challenge/experience”.
“I will definitely miss Surbiton and will follow the girls next season! I have absolutely loved being a part of the club over the last 5 years, not only because of the success we have had but also because of the family environment at SHC”.
Hurley Coach Patrick Bakker is delighted with her arrival: ‘Hannah has been a permanent member of the GB team for years. With her, we are bringing in a new, technical, powerful hockey player. In addition, Hannah will further boost our relatively young team with her international experience and positive personality. Hannah’s the best match for the squad. She’s very, very welcome.”
