India: Day 5 Results: 1st Hockey India Sub Junior Men & Women West Zone Championship 2023

~Hockey Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Hockey won in Sub Junior Women’s category matches~ 

~Hockey Madhya Pradesh, Hockey Maharashtra, and Hockey Rajasthan won in Sub Junior Men’s category matches~ 

Chhattisgarh, 13th October 2023: The fifth day of the 1st Hockey India Sub Junior Men & Women West Zone Championship 2023 in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh, witnessed the match between Hockey Gujarat and Hockey Rajasthan ending in a draw, while Hockey Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh Hockey register wins in their respective matches in the Sub Junior Women’s category.  

Meanwhile, Hockey Madhya Pradesh, Hockey Maharashtra, and Hockey Rajasthan emerged victorious in their respective games in the Sub Junior Men’s category.  

In the first match of the day, Hockey Gujarat played out a closely fought match against Hockey Rajasthan which ended in a 1-1 draw in the Sub Junior Women’s category. After Khushaliben Vala (2’) gave an early lead to Hockey Gujarat through a field goal, Pushpa Kanwar (13’) netted an equaliser for Hockey Rajasthan. However, no more goals were scored in the match as it ended in a tie. 

Hockey Madhya Pradesh defeated Hockey Maharashtra 17-1 in the second match of the day in the Sub Junior Women’s category. Tanvi (3’, 43’, 45’, 59’), and Rubi Rathore (6’, 14’, 16’, 21’) netted four goals each, while Gungun Kaur (9’) scored a goal for Hockey Madhya Pradesh. Pukhrambam Sallu (10’, 19’, 52’) and Kanak Pal (24’, 44’, 56’, 57’) scored three and four goals respectively, while Sujata Jayant (27’) netted one goal for her side. For Hockey Maharashtra, Santosh Athulya Padinjarattathu (25’) netted a consolation goal. 

In the third match of the day, Chhattisgarh Hockey registered a 14-0 win over Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu Hockey in the Sub Junior Women’s category. Naina (1’, 54’) opened the scoring, following which Dubee Rawat (7’, 11’) netted two goals. Also, Madhu Sidar (15’), Captain Damini Khusro (19’, 29’), Aradhana Rajbhar (23’, 45’, 45’), Vasundhara Mandavi (25’, 27’), Sonam Rajbhar (33’), and Shyamlee Ray (34’) were on the scoresheet.

Coming to the Sub Junior Men’s category, Hockey Madhya Pradesh defeated Hockey Gujarat 11-0 in the fourth match of the day. Anil Shukla (3’) opened the scoring while Tauheed Ahmad (13’, 26’) and Karan Gautam (18’, 47’) netted two goals each. Also, Sultani Azad (29’), Javvad Khan (32’, 34, 50, 54’), and Morya Rishi (54’) were among the goalscorers. 

In the fifth match of the day, Hockey Maharashtra beat Chhattisgarh Hockey 4-2 in the Sub Junior Men’s category. Paresh Rane Mitansh (12’), Ethan Albano Dsouza (23’, 35’), and Captain Swayam Sanju Gangurde (60’) scored goals for Hockey Maharashtra, while Om Kumar Yadav (53’) and Manas Yadav (55’) netted a goal each for Chhattisgarh Hockey. 

The last match of the day saw Hockey Rajasthan defeat Goans Hockey 8-4 in the Sub Junior Men’s category. Rajjit Singh (4’, 39’, 43’, 47’, 49’), Vinay Kumar (13’), Loon Singh (26’), and Amit Singh (27’) netted goals for Hockey Rajasthan, while for Goans Hockey, Shervin Samuel Fernandes (17’), Udit Baa (22’), Captain Karan Rajesh Pawaskar (35’), and Raj Kishor Dodamani (44’) were the on the target.
