The inaugural FIH Hockey5s World Cup will take place in Muscat, Oman from 24-31 January 2024. On Sunday evening the pools were drawn by the host organization and FIH for both the mens and womens tournament.
South Africa will be represented on the womens side of the tournament with the SA Women having qualified at the African Hockey5s Qualifier in Egypt. They have been drawn in Pool B alongside Oceania heavyweights Australia, African neighbours Zambia and European side Ukraine.
16 teams will be competing in both men’s and women’s tournaments at the World Cup. Three from each continental body joining Oman as the host nation. The full draw for both tournaments can be seen below.
Hockey5s was first played competitively in preparation for the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympic Games and was quickly adopted by many nations in search of an outdoor short format of Hockey.
