England U16 Boys 9-2 Scotland Emerging Boys
A blistering performance by England U16 Boys saw them beat Scotland Emerging Boys 9-2 at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre.
It was a ferocious start to the contest that saw England take an early lead through a diving finish by Dillon Bhogal. 1-0.
England went 2-0 ahead when Isaac Edwards slid in at the far post to convert and double his side’s advantage. Then England carved Scotland open again and Will Upton tapped home for 3-0 in Q1.
Right before the first break, Andrew McGrane pulled one back for Scotland from a slick penalty corner routine. 3-1
Early in the second quarter England went 4-1 ahead through a low penalty corner effort by Herbie Walton into the bottom left corner. Before long England went 5-1 ahead as the ball was squeezed over the line through a ruck of players.
Then Scotland pulled another one back from a penalty corner rebound off the post finished by Scott Love. 5-2. The goals kept coming in the second half and England went 6-2 ahead through a powerful finish by Noah Lakin Hall.
The sixth was quickly followed by another goal as Charlie Fuschillo made it 7-2 with a sublime solo run and finish for England. Early in the final quarter a penalty corner rebound was scooped home by Matt Haines to make it 8-2 for England.
Then Alec Clayton-Jones fired a drag flick into the top left corner to make it 9-2 for England, and complete the scoring.
France U16 Boys 0-15 The Netherlands U16 Boys
An outstanding performance by The Netherlands saw them win 15-0 against France in the U16 Easter 4 Nations at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre.
The opening goal came midway through the first quarter, and it came from the stick of Olivier Van Uffen who fired a drag flick into the top right corner to make it 1-0.
Elias Hoepelman tapped into the roof of the net after a superb passing move down the right. Moments later and Hoepelman was on hand again to finish off another slick passing move through the French defence. 3-0.
Early in the second quarter and Van Uffen struck again from a penalty corner rebound to make it 4-0. Another goal arrived quickly for The Netherlands as Arnoud Raymakers fired home into the bottom right corner for 5-0.
Then Van Uffen bagged his hat trick with another drag flick into the top right corner for 6-0. It went to 7-0 soon after the sixth when Mees Wehymeyer slid in at the far post to tap into an empty net.
Wehymeyer struck again early in the second half to make it 8-0 with a lovely solo spin and finish. Van Uffen scored his fourth of the contest with a magnificent solo run and finish to make it 9-0. Teun Hogenhout made it double figures for The Netherlands with a low shot into the bottom right corner. 10-0.
The final quarter saw Floris Rap finish from close range to make it 11-0 for The Netherlands, before striking again into the roof of the net on the reverse for 12-0.
The thirteenth goal wasn’t far away and Mees Bodzinga fired a low penalty corner into the bottom right corner. 13-0, and in the blink of an eye Hoepelman deflected home for 14-0 and his hat trick, before scoring a delightful lob for his fourth and for 15-0, which was how it finished.
