Carlos García Cuenca will return as head coach Real Club de Polo de Barcelona’s men’s team after a four-year break as the club look forward to the EHL in October.
García Cuenca has been the coach of CD Terrassa in the last two seasons, as well as being part of the technical staff of the Spanish women’s team.
He was the head coach with Polo from 2012 to June 2019, completing a total of seven seasons in which he won four league championships, five Copa del Reys and four Campionats de Catalunya as well as taking the team to fourth place in the EHL in 2019.
He had previously been part of the technical staff of the lower categories and had coached Pedralbes HC, the second men’s team.
On his return as Polo coach, García Cuenca is clear that “it will be a different era. The context is not the same and the team has also changed. There are some young players who know me from my previous time with the club and that can make things easier, but we are aware that we will have to start over”.
The Galician coach is “very excited” to return to what he considers “without any doubt, one of the best clubs in Europe. I feel it is my home and when Polo calls, you don’t have to think about it too much”.
He thanked CD Terrassa for the treatment he has received in recent years and the facility he received to return to RC Polo.
