Laren is on the threshold of the championship in the Promotion Class. Thanks to a 5-0 victory over Ring Pass, Nanco Jansonius’ team can keep the scale up next week if they win against SCHC. However, SCHC will not give in easily. After a 0-1 victory over closest competitor Hurley, the people of Bilthoven are still aiming for a play-off ticket. The gap with number three Hurley is one point with two games to go.
Gooische has made an important battle in the battle for enforcement. Mid-engine Victoria was defeated 1-3. As a result, the men from Bussum climb to tenth place and even the safe ninth place is in sight. Ring Pass drops to eleventh place and must therefore seriously fear direct relegation.
Gooische coach Dider Meijer: ‘Of course we are very happy with the win over Victoria. We are playing better and better. That translated into a draw against Nijmegen last week (2-2, ed.) And now in a victory. We were pretty even in the first half. We took the lead thanks to a beautiful one-touch flats from Mike Ooijevaar. Then Victoria followed with a rebound from a penalty corner. After the break we pressed more. Victoria clearly has nothing to gain or lose, because I didn’t sense a huge drive from them anymore. With first the 2-1 and then the 3-1 we closed the game.’
Thanks to the victory, even direct enforcement is still a realistic option for Gooische, with Almere and HBS as upcoming opponents. These points give us confidence going into the final games. We are going to have two beautiful weeks, in which we want to get the most out of ourselves. As far as our game is concerned, we certainly belong in this class.’
Ede will play in the Promotion Class next year. The Gelderland team defeated HCAS 4-1 to become champion of the Overgangsklasse A.
