EHL: SCHC win first ever EHL Women’s medal with win over Junior

SCHC won their first ever EHL Women’s medal as they held off a strong challenge from Junior FC thanks to goals from Mette Winter, Yibbi Jansen and Pien Dicke.

The Dutch club started off well with Winter scoring in the ninth minute with a powerful push which took a big deflection high into the net. Jansen added a spectacular drag-flick for the second goal soon after but any thought it would be comfortable would soon be dispelled.

Vicky Granatto forced home a loose ball from Carlota Petchamé’s shot to cut the gap at half-time and they looked the more likely to score next for a long time.

That was until Dicke pounced on a mistake in the Junior defence where she picked up the loose ball and walked it into the goal.

Junior came back once again from a corner shot from Gigi Olive with 13 minutes to go but they could not find another to send the game to shoot-out.
