Crewe Vagrants Hockey Club coach James Clark has successfully ran a walking hockey group every Monday with a group of 20 players with a variety of expectations and motivations.
Increasing in popularity, Walking Hockey is perfect for players who are looking for a less physically demanding version of the game but still enjoy showing their skills and being involved in a team while having the social aspect. Walking Hockey is exactly as the name suggests – you play Hockey, but walking. It’s designed to help people keep an active lifestyle regardless of age, health and ability, and get those back into hockey who had to stop due to injuries or other reasons.
On Saturday 01 July, Crewe Vagrants Hockey Club are running what they believe to be the first Walking Hockey Festival. Teams will be travelling from Warrington, Wilmslow, Triton, Deeside plus many more.
Crewe Vagrants Hockey Club invite anyone over the age of 13 to form a mixed 7 aside team. The tournament will run from approximately 11am-3pm and Walking hockey rules apply – no running, no hitting the ball (only pushing) and no Goalkeeper.
