last day of pool matches took place under a warm sunny sky in Hiroshima. In
Pool A, a draw for Poland against Uruguay (0-0) was enough for them to finish
second in their pool, India had a comfortable win over Fiji, thereby moving
directly to the semi-finals. In Pool B, Japan beat goals Mexico 6-0, and Russia
were the surprise winners over Chile, finishing top of their pool.

As the Men’s FIH Pro League rolled in to town one last time (before moving to the Stoop), this one had a lot of interest and intrigue building around it. Not because, coming in to the game, Great Britain need nothing less than a win to stay in contention of reaching the Grand Finals in two weeks time, nor was it due to welcoming one of the most attacking teams in the world, the Netherlands, to the Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Centre.
