bf0b9f ecfd0ed47ce749809eb6db7cbcbc52af~mv2 - Wales: Wales secure first test victory against Ireland - Jack Pritchard’s double sees Wales take a 2-0 victory over their Irish counterparts.

Jack Pritchard’s double sees Wales take a 2-0 victory over their Irish counterparts.

The match was high tempo and incredibly close with the game separated only by Pritchard’s short range shot in the 23rd minute and deflection from a Rupert Shipperley assist in the 54th minute.

The game saw first senior international caps awarded to Owen Sutton and Jonny Fleck.

Rhys Bradshaw and Rupert Shipperley now sit just one cap away from their 50th and 100th milestone respectively.

Goal scorer Jack Pritchard commented: “it was a hell of a performance, I thought we defended really well and played well across the board with a couple of new caps today as well.

It was obviously nice to get a couple of goals and I look forward to taking that kind of performance into the weekend”.

Head Coach Danny Newcombe said: “ It was a great start to the test series and a really pleasing performance of test match quality from the group.

It’s fantastic to have two new international caps and I’m really proud of Owen and Jonny for their first game for Wales”

Looking forward to building on these performances for the weekend.”

Wales next play Ireland at 11am on Saturday.
