Lynne Morgan has been recognised with as a medallist of the British Empire (BEM) after a life dedicated to playing and volunteering in hockey.
Morgan, who is the President of Ashford Middlesex Hockey Club, has been involved with the sport for over 50 years from representing her club to representing Wales in Masters hockey.
Through her life, she also acted as President and Vice President for Middlesex Hockey Association and has held the roles of Chair Person and President of her club for the last 20 years.
On her honour, Morgan said: “I felt absolutely overwhelmed when I got the news and didn’t quite believe it. But when it sank in I felt very privileged because life in hockey has been great, I want hockey, Ashford Hockey Club, Wales, and GB to be the winner because that is what it’s all about. Thank you to everyone.
“Claire Brant (Ashford Middlesex Hockey Club), Russell Grant, Ria Burrage-Maler (Welsh Hockey) and Sandra Marlow all nominated me so thank you to them and the hockey family.”
England Hockey CEO Nick Pink, said: “On behalf of everyone involved with Hockey, I want to congratulate Lynne on this prestigious honour. Lynne has dedicated her life to the sport and I’m so pleased she has been recognised in this way.”
