EHL: Rotweiss Wettingen win Swiss championship

Rotweiss Wettingen will be back in the EHL Men’s KO16 next season after they held off a comeback from HC Olten to be Swiss champions once again.

They made it through Saturday’s semi-final with a 2-0 success over Grasshoppers Zurich and then won a rollercoaster in the decider.

They raced into a 2-0 lead in the first half against Olten and then added another couple in the third quarter before their rivals got three back in the closing 15 minutes.

Nonetheless, Wettingen stayed clear for a 4-3 win and a place in next season’s EHL.

On the women’s side, Rot-Weiss were also victorious against the same opponent with a 1-0 victory in the final having dismissed Luzerner SC in the semis.
