Asia: Oman Olympic Committee hosts workshop as part of women’s sport initiative

Back

The Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) held a workshop as part of its “Step Forward” programme, which aims to promote women in sport.

Taha Bin Suleiman Al Kishry, the OOC secretary general, was among those in attendance alongside members of the organisation’s Board.

It is hoped that Step Forward will develop women in sports and administrative fields, by improving their leadership skills, teamwork and personal development.

A number of training sessions have been held since May where practical applications were implemented and speakers shared their experiences.

Communications company Ooredoo is backing the project which also ties in with Oman 2040, the country’s vision document for the future.

Oman has competed at every edition of the Summer Olympics since Los Angeles 1984 but has never won a medal.

The country won two medals, a silver and a bronze, at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games which concluded in China on Sunday (October 8).
