Club de Campo won the 2024 Copa de la Reina title, defeating Junior FC 1-0, going some way to avenging their defeat to the Catalan side in last season’s final four.
It completed a perfect weekend in Benalmadena for Edu Aguilar’s side and key defender María López was delighted her side won the title after last season was defined by near misses.
“We are very happy with how the three days have turned out,” she said. “The cup is always a very beautiful tournament, but also very complicated.
“The teams go all out and we play three games in three days. Last year, we lost the league final and the cup final so it nice this year we started by winning the first title on offer.”
It was in the third quarter when Club de Campo scored the only goal of the game and the one that ultimately earned them the victory.
Bea Pérez put a ball inside the circle for Begoña García who scrambled the ball home on the backhand, the top scorer of the tournament beating Jana Martínez with an accurate strike.
The Sant Cugat side pushed on the final quarter but Campo always looked dangerous on the countrer-attack and they held on for the narrow win.
