Fletiomare MHC lifted the Euro Hockey League U14 Girls title in their European debut as they got the best of HTC Uhlenhorst Mülheim in a dramatic shoot‑out in Sunday’s final.
The Dutch side progressed through Pool A unbeaten and showed resilience in the knockout phase, eventually prevailing in a final that mirrored the competitive balance seen throughout the six‑team tournament.
The final finished 1-1 at the end of regulation time, with both teams scoring from penalty corners in a tense and disciplined contest.
Fletiomare struck first when captain Elin Kwant converted from a set-piece midway through the match, before Uhlenhorst responded through skipper Carla Römer, whose penalty corner ensured the German side forced the game to a shoot‑out.
From there, Fletiomare held their nerve. Goals from Kenza Verkleij, Julie Neeser, Puck van Soest and Saar van Rooijen, combined with key saves from goalkeeper Elin Knaapen, secured a 4–3 shoot‑out success.
Fletiomare had earlier booked their place in the title match with a 2–1 semi‑final win over Waterloo Ducks where Kwant again played a central role, scoring once from open play and converting the decisive penalty corner late on.
Uhlenhorst reached the final following a goalless semi‑final against Surbiton that was decided by shoot‑out. Goalkeeper Viktoria Flesch proved crucial, making key blocks before successful conversions from Cäcilie Rücker and Hedi Petrick sealed progression.
The bronze medal match also required yet another shoot‑out after a 0–0 draw between Surbiton and Waterloo Ducks with the London club emerging with a 2–0 victory with goalkeeper Emily Elliott keeping a clean sheet while Marnie Lane and Grace Taylor converted to secure third place.
