Anne Veenendaal was the AH&BC Amsterdam hero as they defeated EHL champions SCHC to reach the Dutch women’s final after a shoot-out.

She kept out three Stichtse efforts for a 3-1 success after the two sides ended their two-legged semi-final 3-3 on aggregate.

In Thursday’s first leg, Marijn Veen’s double saw Amsterdam eke out a 3-2 lead which they took to Bilthoven. There, Lotte Ruts thunderous strike from the left of the circle put SCHC 1-0 up in the tie but they could not build on that further.

It meant a shoot-out where Veenendaal reigned supreme with only Ruts scoring from the four efforts her side took.

In the final, Amsterdam will meet Den Bosch who also won a semi-final thriller with Joosje Burg’s scrambled goal with one minute to go separating them and SV Kampong.

Game one ended 2-2 and Kampong had the half-time advantage in game two via Iris de Kemp to lead overall.

Frédérique Matla replied with a corner and a stroke to seemingly swing the tie Den Bosch’s way but Charlotte Hoctin Boes levelled once more with just two minutes to go.

Seemingly a shoot-out beckoned but Burg held her nerve as the ball ricocheted into her path in the circle to calmly make it 3-2 and 5-4 overall.

The final series is next weekend with Amsterdam hosting on Saturday (12.45 CET) with the two teams going to Oosterplas on Sunday.
