HC Rotterdam has appointed Jeroen Hertzberger as head coach of the men’s first team for next season as they look to build on the Dutch Hoofdklasse title earned last week.
He takes over from Erik van Driel whom the club thanked for his contribution in that success and will now move on this summer.
The EHL’s top goalscorer returns to a formal role with the team a year after he finished up his playing career with the side after over two decades.
In a statement about Hertzberger’s appointment, HC Rotterdam: “considered, among other things, his experience at the top level, his ability to operate in a performance-oriented environment, and his familiarity with both the team and the club.
“The combination of these factors is expected to contribute to a smooth transition to the new season and the subsequent international trajectory.
“In doing so, HC Rotterdam also emphasises continuity within the squad and staff. The internationals are under contract for the long term, and the experienced support staff surrounding the team will remain involved.”
