Asia: Men’s Junior Asia Cup 2023 – DAY 3

Back

Oman to enjoy three new matches of the most outstanding junior teams of Asia.

Today they played Malaysia vs Bangladesh and Oman vs Korea for Pool B, Japan vs India for Pool A. The positions in the standings are becoming more and more relevant so all points and goals from now on are very important.

MALAYSIA 5 VS BANGLADESH 1 (POOL B)

Malaysia had just won its first match against Uzbekistan, while Bangldesh had achieved its first victory against Oman, so both teams were in a very encouraging mood to give everything they had to score three goals again.

The white team who has more experience in this kind of championships managed to channel the green team who started the match with a special energy that allowed them to score 3 goals in the first 15 minutes of the game, executed by Shafiq Ikhmal Daniel, Shahmie Irfan Suhaimi and Syamim Naim to leave their team 3-0 in the first quarter.

RASHED Mamun’s team had scoring chances in the first two quarters, but only in the 37th minute were they able to score a goal by ABDULLAH Md from a penalty corner to make it 3-1 and bring them a little closer on the scoreboard.

As expected, RAHIM Amin’s team scored 2 more goals to show that they did not want to let any point slip away and to score as many goals as possible.

That is why in the second two quarters of the match Shahmie Irfan Suhaimi was able to convert his hat-trick with two more goals and leave his team 5-1 with a victory that positions them partially in the first place of Pool B.

Bangladesh will face Uzbekistan in their next match, while Malaysia will face Korea in their next match.

The best player of the match was Shahmie Irfan Suhaimi who scored a hat-trick to give his team the victory.

JAPAN 1 VS INDIA 3 (POOL A)

The second match of the day was between Japan and India in Pool A. The Japanese had just won the opening match of this tournament against Thailand while India had done the same against Chinese Taipei.

Both had been able to score three points and were very well prepared for this competition, so you could smell that it would be a tough match for both teams.

Japan started off on the right foot and after 19 minutes of play they took the lead with a goal by YASUDA Kumpei to make it 1-0 and give India a turbulent start they did not want.

India managed to come back and only in the 36th minute of play they were able to score their first goal by Hundal Araijeet Singh, as Japan’s defense as well as their goalkeeper prevented many entries into the circle that could have ended in a goal for the Indian team.

With the match 1-1 both teams were looking for the spaces freed by their opponents to break lines and get to the circle as fast as possible; this is how the team led by KUMAR C. R. was able to make it 2-1 with a goal by TIWARI Sharda Nand.

With 4 minutes to go, although Japan was trying to generate their offensive attacks, SINGH Uttam managed to increase the advantage with a penalty corner goal that made the game 3-1.

India added their new three points that leave them sharing the first place by goal difference with Pakistan, who will be their next opponent in a match that promises a lot of action.

Japan will play against Chinese Taipei.

The best player of the match was Hundal Araijeet Singh.

OMAN 1 VS KOREA 8 (POOL B)

The third and last match of the day was between Oman and Korea. The home team had lost their first match, while Korea had won their first match, so they came with extra strength to continue that path. The home side would be looking for their first win in front of their home crowd to celebrate their first 3 points that they were looking forward to.

Korea had a much more attacking attitude from the first minute of the game but could not convert until the 21st minute when KIM Minkwon made it 1-0.

Oman had their attempts but could not stop the Korean team who opened the scoring and managed to score 3 more goals by PARK Hyun, PARK Geonwoo and LIM Dohyun to make it 4-0 going into half time.

Korea did not stop and after half time they managed to score three goals by LIM Dohyun x 2 and CHOI Jiho to leave their team leading 7-0.

Oman managed to pull one back in the 46th minute with a penalty corner goal by MADIT Aiman to make it 7-1.

Korea did not want to be left behind and scored the eighth goal through LIM Dohyun to make it 8-1 and the victory for his team.

Korea will play its next match against Malaysia, while the home team will face Uzbekistan to define positions in Pool B.
