EHL: Old Georgians lead way in England men’s league

Old Georgians have the edge in the English men’s Premier Division at the halfway stage, sitting just clear of Surbiton on goal difference as the competition reaches its top-six split point.

The top six were already confirmed prior to Saturday’s action with OGs, Surbiton, Holcombe, Wimbledon, Hampstead & Westminster and Southgate already set to contest the next phase in the title chase.

Old Georgians kept their place at the top with a 6-2 win over Southgate with a hat trick for Sam Ward, two goals from Alan Forsyth after James Carson’s opening effort.

Surbiton join them on 30 points but with four less on goal difference. They were 4-1 away winners against East Grinstead, their goals shared around between Luke Taylor, Struan Walker, Alex Williams and Gareth Furlong.

Holcombe are third thanks to a 5-1 win over Hampstead & Westminster while Wimbledon produced the comeback of the day, coming back from 3-1 down to defeat Cardiff & Met 4-3.
