Old Georgians produced a resounding performance to defeat Mannheimer HC 5-1 and advance to a Sunday KO8 date with Waterloo Ducks.
They did so with a super second half showing in which they dominated proceedings having eked out a 2-1 half-time lead when on the back foot for long periods.
Luis Holste gave MHC a fourth minute with his first touch of the day from a Nico Reichert cross. The reply was instant from Old Georgians with a corner shot deflecting onto a foot on the line and Alan Forsyth stepped up to score the resulting stroke.
Lee Morton then put the English side ahead with a sublime individual goal, one with its origins deep inside his own half. When he got motoring, he drove away from a series of tackles and then chipped the ball over Adrian Rafi whilst on the slide.
Mannheim were holding most of the play during this spell but could not make the most of it and they were made to pay in the second half. James Carson’s drag-flick put them 3-1 ahead before the end of Q3 and then Sam Ward whipped them further clear.
His baseline took a Mannheim stick to loop into the goal for the fourth and then he dragged into an open net from a corner for 5-1 with five minutes to go.
