Gwalior, 21st September 2023: SAI BAL, HIM Hockey Academy, Round Glass Punjab Hockey Academy, SAI Shakti, Pritam Siwach Hockey Academy, Sonepat, and Republican Sports Club won their respective Pool games on day 2 of the 3rd Khelo India Junior Women’s Hockey League 2023 (Finals) in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.
The first encounter of the day from Pool A saw SAI BAL emerge victorious against Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy with a 3-2 scoreline. Gurmail Kaur (2’) gave Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy the early lead, however, SAI BAL responded with consecutive goals from Gedela Gayatri (11’), Ashima Rout (22’), and Captain Sanjana Horo (29’). Swati (43’) scored the second goal for Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy but they ultimately fell short.
In the second match of the day from Pool A, HIM Hockey Academy beat HAR Hockey Academy 4-2. HAR Hockey Academy took the early lead with goals from Bhteri (1’) and Preeti (5’). HIM Hockey Academy responded with goals from Sujata Jayant (39’), Sallu Phukrambam (50’, 57’) and Anu Devi (53’) to secure the victory.
Meanwhile, the third and final Pool A clash of the day saw Round Glass Punjab Hockey Academy beat Bhai Behlo Hockey Academy, Bhagta by 10-1. Round Glass Punjab Hockey Academy’s efforts were led by goals from Daljit Kaur (11’, 14’), Pawanpreet Kaur (3’,38’), Sweena Rani (8’, 15’), Namneet Kaur (18’, 21’), Lakhvir Kaur (14’) and Captain Jaisikdeep Kaur (54’) while Rashi (58’) scored the sole goal for Bhai Behlo Hockey Academy, Bhagta.
The fourth match of the day was a Pool B match between SAI Shakti and Salute Hockey Academy where Sai Shakti emerged victorious with an 8-1 scoreline. The final match of the day was also a Pool B match that saw Republican Sports Club defeat Citizen Hockey XI by 4-3. Eleena Devi Keisam (19’) and Romita Chanu Waribam (28’) gave Republican Sports Club the lead. However, Citizen Hockey XI equalised and eventually went ahead due to goals from Sonam Rana (41’, 48’) and Muskanpreet Kaur (54’). In the final minutes of the match, Ritu Devi Laishram (57’) and Reema Koijam (58’) found the net in quick succession to ensure a victory for Republican Sports Club.
