New Zealand: DUTCH TOO MUCH FOR KIWIS

DUTCH TOO MUCH FOR KIWIS

Amsterdam witnessed Dutch dominance as the Vantage Black Sticks Women faced off against a formidable Netherlands team. The sold-out stadium was buzzing with anticipation as the world’s number one team showcased their supremacy, ultimately securing a commanding 4-1 victory over New Zealand.

From the opening whistle, it was evident that the Dutch possessed a significant advantage in terms of fitness, speed, and strength.

In a stunning display of their skill, the Netherlands wasted no time asserting their dominance, finding the back of the net within the first minute of the match, sending the raucous crowd into a frenzy.

Although the Vantage Black Sticks Women held their own, they were unable to match the Dutch’s exceptional skill level. The first quarter highlighted the disparity between the two teams, with New Zealand struggling to break through the Netherlands’ well-organised defence.

The second quarter began with another blow for the Black Sticks as the Dutch swiftly weaved their way through defenders in the circle, extending their lead with an early goal.

The Netherlands continued to demonstrate their magical stick work, adding a third goal as they found an attacker at the post, who skillfully slotted the ball into the net.

The third quarter saw the Dutch maintain their dominance over the match. They breached New Zealand’s defence once again, this time through a deflection that found its way into the back of the net.

The Netherlands showcased their ability to navigate through defenders with ease, leaving the Vantage Black Sticks Women struggling to keep up.

Entering the final quarter, the Vantage Black Sticks Women displayed commendable hockey, refusing to concede defeat without a fight.

Their perseverance paid off when Rose Tynan unleashed a powerful shot on goal, only to be saved by the Dutch goalkeeper. However, the rebound fell kindly for Hannah Cotter, who swiftly reacted and placed the ball into the back of the net.

Despite the late consolation goal, it was the Netherlands who emerged victorious with a dominant 4-1 win over the Vantage Black Sticks Women.

The women play again tomorrow against Germany, while the men will face off against the Dutch in a double-header for the Kiwis.
