New Delhi, 25th September 2023: The second day of the 1st Hockey India Sub Junior Men & Women East Zone Championship 2023 in Ranchi, Jharkhand, saw Hockey Jharkhand, Hockey Bihar, and Hockey Association of Odisha register victories in their respective matches in the Sub Junior Women’s category, while Hockey Association of Odisha and Manipur Hockey emerged victorious in their respective games in the Sub Junior Men’s category.
The first game of the day saw Hockey Jharkhand beat Manipur Hockey by 9-0 in Pool A of the Sub Junior Women’s category. The goal scorers for Hockey Jharkhand were Hemrom Leoni (1’, 15’, 32’), Mundu Sukarmani (13’, 39’), Aind Neha (37’, 47’), Mundri Saroj (6’) and Jojo Jubaliani (43’).
Hockey Bihar beat Hockey Bengal by 4-0 in the second match from Pool A of the Sub Junior Women’s category. Singh Sapna (16’) opened the account for Hockey Bihar followed up by goals from Bijli Kumari (27’), Kumari Anjali (41’), and Akansha Yadav (47’).
Hockey Association of Odisha beat Assam Hockey by a comprehensive 23-0 scoreline in Pool A in the third match of the Sub Junior Women’s category. Captain Neharika Toppo (3’), Anjana Xaxa (2’, 4’, 4’, 50’), Kiro Sanjana (10’, 47’, 54’), Tanisha Ekka (11’, 30’, 36’, 38’), Drupati Naik (17’, 19’, 60’, 60’), Kujur Sanjna (25’, 37’, 44’), Sadam Ashika (30’), Supriya (38’, 47’), and Patel Pragya (43’) scored for Hockey Association of Odisha.
The fourth match of the day saw Hockey Association of Odisha beat Assam Hockey by 18-0 in Pool A of the Junior Men’s category. Kerketta Mandeep (3’, 9’, 15’, 25’, 27’, 30’) led the goalscoring efforts for Hockey Association of Odisha with Majhi Asit (12’), Barla Sujit (19’, 33’), Lakra Ritik (21’, 24’, 50’, 60’), Dadel Jaystanley (24’), Lakra Ashish (37’), Amit Kiro (42’), Lakra Bimal (52’), and Bidyananda Singh Yumkham (58’) the rest of the goals.
The last match of the day saw Manipur Hockey beat Hockey Bengal by 5-0 in Pool A of the Junior Men’s category. The goalscorers for Manipur Hockey were Lisham Max Singh (30’) and Captain Sushil Lisham (32’, 37’, 40’, 47’).
