England: Danny Kerry Appointed As England And Great Britain Hockey Performance Director

World renowned coach Danny Kerry MBE has been announced as the Performance Director for England and Great Britain Hockey who will lead the sport into the LA 2028 Olympic cycle and beyond.

Kerry, a highly respected figure in the world of hockey, led the Great Britain women’s team to a historic gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, having previously guided the team to bronze at the London 2012 Olympic Games. His extensive knowledge of the sport and high performance, coupled with his proven track record of developing elite athletes, makes him the ideal candidate to lead England and Great Britain Hockey’s high-performance programme.

Kerry has a long history with England and Great Britain Hockey having previously served as the head coach of the England and Great Britain women’s hockey teams from 2005-2012 and 2014-2018 and as head coach of the England and Great Britain men’s team from September 2018 until January 2022. Kerry also served as Performance Director from 2012 through to 2016.

As Performance Director, Kerry will be responsible for driving the strategic direction and development of elite performance in England and Great Britain, working alongside Hockey Wales and Scottish Hockey. He will work closely with athletes, coaches, and support staff to ensure that England and Great Britain Hockey continues to perform at the highest level on the international stage.

Commenting on his appointment, Kerry said: “I am really proud and looking forward to be able to join the performance team at England and GB Hockey again. The sport has seen amazing growth over the last 16 years, and I look forward to working with the many people and bodies that underpin our international teams, athletes and our great sport.”

Nick Pink, CEO of England and COO of Great Britain Hockey, added: “We are delighted to welcome Danny back to the England and Great Britain Hockey team as Performance Director. Danny came through a very competitive field as the lead candidate.

“Danny’s track record speaks for itself, and we are confident that his leadership and expertise will be invaluable as we continue to strive for success on the international stage and deliver our ambitious strategy.”

Kerry will take up his new role after the Paris Olympics from September 2024.
