The National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan has posted a congratulatory message on social media to mark the 33rd anniversary of the country’s independence on Saturday, August 31.
“The National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan cordially congratulates everyone on the 33rd anniversary of the Independence of our motherland.
“May the sky of heavenly Uzbekistan always be clear and peaceful, may our multinational people always be friendly and united, may our independence be eternal,” the NOC posted on its Instagram page.
There were widespread celebrations in the capital Tashkent on Saturday.
Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was quoted as saying: “In these emotional moments, we all deeply realise the enormous, historical significance of our priceless asset – national independence.”
