Nijmegen player Tijn Stuve can call himself the first top scorer of the new season in the Promotion Class Men. The 28-year-old striker scored four goals in the derby with Ede, which Nijmegen won 9-0. Nineteen goals were scored during the first day of play in the Promotion Class Ladies, but no player scored more than once.
Promotion League Men
Already during the previous season – when Nijmegen still played on the highest level – Stuve was the most productive player of his team. He then scored eleven goals for the relegated team. Last Sunday he simply continued the line of last season with four goals against weakened Ede. Teammates Jim van de Venne and David Blom each scored twice. They can also be found at the top of the first top scorers list of the season.
Stuve’s four-setter contributed to a rare high in the seven-year history of the Promotion League. Only two duels on the second level of the Netherlands ever ended with an even bigger margin: Nijmegen-Were Di of May 29, 2022 (10-0) and Gooische-SCHC of September 25, 2022 (1-11).

Promotion Class Ladies
As we have come to expect from the games in the Promotion League Ladies in recent years, multiple goal scorers are a rarity. The six games of the first day of play produced a total of 19 goals, but no goal scorer managed to score more than once.
Of the players who finished high on the top scorer list last season, we only saw the name of Donna Dupuis. The Victoria striker opened the scoring in the away game with newcomer HBS, but saw her team go down 2-1 in the end.
