Royal Léopold fought back from 2-0 down to grab an important draw with Gantoise and recover some form ahead of their EHL Men KO16 date with HC Wien on Thursday.
It came a week after their surprise 4-0 home defeat to Herakles and they looked in trouble when Etienne Tynevez and Alexander Hendrickx gave the Ghent club a 2-0 lead.
But the Brussels side got one back via Tom Boon from a corner and then his attacking partner in crime José Basterra equalised in the 60th minute from another set piece.
Basterra admits he is learning a lot from Boon, saying to La Libre this week “we make a great duo” and they give Léo’s forward line some serious firepower.
It gives them a boost as they look to negotiate the date with Wien and then face into a battle with either Club de Campo de Madrid or CAM 92.
Braxgata – who will make their EHL debut next Saturday against Western Wildcats – moved into a share of first place in the Carlsberg 0.0 League – with a 3-2 win over Uccle.
Marc Reyné and. Loick Luypaert’s penalty stroke built a 2-0 lead before Ben Walker got the clinching goal, lifting them to 13 points after six rounds of matches.
