Gantoise’s men and women both carry healthy leads in the Belgian Carlsberg 0.0 Hockey League going into the winter break after strong autumns.
For the women, they have dropped just two points so far with 11 wins out of 12, closing out this phase with a 2-0 away win over KHC Leuven.
It puts them five points clear of KHC Dragons with Mercedes Pastor and Stephanie Vanden Borre on the mark, making it four wins in a row with just one goal conceded in that sequence.
In the playoff chase, Dragons are on 29 points with a six-point gap to third place Antwerp and Waterloo Ducks on 20, level with reigning Belgian champions Braxgata who are fifth on goal difference.
For the men from Ghent, their lead is four points as they rounded off their autumn series with a 5-2 win over Pingouin, their ninth win in 13 matches.
Hugues Molenaar scored twice, as did Alexander Hendrickx from the penalty spot, while Roman Duvekot added the fourth.
The success means they stay four clear of Brax who have a game in hand, as do Orée who are in third spot a further point back.
Waterloo Ducks complete the top four on 24 points – six back from Gantoise – while the battle for the playoff spots in the new year will also include Herakles and Royal Léopold on 22 points,
