EHL: Matla reaches 200-goal milestone

Frédérique Matla became the eighth woman to score 200 goals in the Hoofdklasse as her double helped Den Bosch close out 2025 with an upbeat 9-2 win over Tilburg.

It has been a tricky first half of the competition for the Brabant club who sit in fourth place after 12 rounds of matches this season.

And they were level at 1-1 in the first quarter when Sanne Koolen and Sanne Koks exchanged goals before they cut loose.

Matla’s historic 200th goal made it 4-1 in the 21st minute with a trademark backhand shot and then she added another from Joosje Burg’s assist.

She is now on 201 goals; former Den Bosch team mate Maartje Paumen leads the list on 368 goals with Kim Lammers on 319. The others on the list are Lisanne Lejeune (265), Mijntje Donners (263), Helen Lejeune-Van de Ben (232), Ageeth Boomgaardt (207) and Caia van Maasakker (204).

In statistics posted on the Tulp Hoofdklasse website, Matla has scored 91 of her 201 goals at Oosterplas.

Her total includes 87 field goals, 92 penalty corners and 22 strokes; 163 of her goals came from the forehand, 38 from the backhand.

Pinoké is her favourite victim with 30 goals against. She also scored her very first Hoofdklasse goal against that club, as a 16-year-old in the 5-1 home win on 10 March 2013.

Elsewhere in the league, SCHC top the table on 32 points after their 6-1 away win over HDM, putting them six points clear of SV Kampong whose game was postponed due to the weather.

AH&BC Amsterdam are third on 24 points, one above Den Bosch.
