Azets Clydesdale Western defeated Watsonians 2-1 to claim a spot in EHL Women with a FINAL12 debut set for next Easter, dethroning the reigning champions.
In Sunday’s decider,Clydesdale Western nearly scored at the end of the opening quarter after an exceptional delivery from Jenny Eadie, but Ava Graham was denied a goal on the hooter.
It was the perfect start to the second quarter for Clydesdale as Emma McGregor slammed the ball home across the goalkeeper for 1-0
Katherine Holdgate quickly equalised for Watsonians with a low penalty corner which was smashed through the goalkeeper for 1-1.
Clydesdale enjoyed good possession with Eadie in particular pulling the strings. As the pressure mounted a goal for Clydesdale seem imminent and it came soon enough. Fiona Semple took the ball on the turn and smashed home to make it 2-1.
Watsonians dug deep to find an equaliser but Clydesdale weathered the storm and took the victory.
