HC Bloemendaal have signed English defender Conor Williamson from Surbiton for the upcoming season as the Tokyo Olympian looks to “experience something new” in the Hoofdklasse..

“The history and successes of the club speak for themselves, and that is something I would like to be a part of,” he said of the move.

“Additionally, this feels like the right moment to experience something new, both on and off the field.”

The defender has been a key part of the English and Great Britain set-up since 2022, winning European silver in 2023 while also helping Surbiton win the English title in 2025.

“Hopefully, I can add something offensively with my runs and passes from the defense. Defensively, I read the game well, so I try to get the team back on the attack with interceptions and tackles.”

With his move to the Netherlands, a new challenge awaits him.

“I am especially looking forward to playing tough matches every week and regularly facing the best players in the world.

“There are big shoes to fill at Bloemendaal but I am extremely motivated to reach my best level every week and help the team be successful.”

Michiel Hilders, Bloemendaal Board Member for Top Hockey, said of Williamson’s arrival: “I am incredibly happy that we can welcome Conor to Bloemendaal next season. Internationally, he is currently developing into one of the better free defenders in the world, and naturally, we are very happy to offer a suitable platform for that kind of player.

“In addition, Conor is also a good fit for the club and the team as a person; we have come to know him as a positive and ambitious guy who is determined to succeed with us.”
