Asia: Iraq Activates the Youth through Hockey

Baghdad, Iraq – In a landmark event for women’s sports in Iraq, the team selection matches for girls aged 12-14 took place this week. This initiative marks a significant step forward in promoting and developing hockey among young female athletes in the country.

The selection matches were held at the Baghdad National Sports Complex, drawing young talent from various regions of Iraq. Over the course of several days, the athletes demonstrated impressive skill, determination, and passion for hockey, vying for a coveted spot on the national team.

Coaches and selectors were highly impressed with the caliber of play, noting the technical abilities, tactical understanding, and teamwork displayed by the participants. The matches featured intense competition, with players showcasing their proficiency in dribbling, passing, shooting, and defensive maneuvers.

The chosen players will now join the national development program, where they will receive advanced training and guidance from experienced coaches.
