It’s EHL week as the world’s best club competition back for a 20th season with men’s ROUND1 hitting the turf at HC Oranje-Rood in Eindhoven from Friday, October 9th to Sunday, October 11th.
For this edition, the competition returns to a group format with four groups of three teams with only one from each advancing to next Easter’s FINAL12.
Opportunity knocks in Pool D for Switzerland’s Rotweiss Wettingen, France’s CAM 92 and Ireland’s Lisnagarvey who will all be looking to grab top spot.

Pool D
Rotweiss Wettingen (SUI)
Switzerland champions
5th EHL appearance
Best finish: 17th place (2022/23, 2023/24)
Current league form: 1st place– five wins and one loss
HC Rotweiss Wettingen is Switzerland’s most successful field hockey club. The reigning Swiss champions opened their national league campaign with five wins from five matches and are looking to carry that form onto the European stage.
Captain Michèl Morard anchors the defence. A lifelong Rotweiss player and current Swiss international, he brings continuity and leadership to the side. At the other end, Mika Conrad is the player to watch: the homegrown forward was the national league’s leading scorer last season and remains Wettingen’s main attacking threat.
The midfield features two players with experience abroad. Facundo Harte joined last season from Hannover TSV in Germany and has also played in Belgium.
Jonas Winkler has spent time with Uhlenhorster HC and Klipper Hamburg in Germany. EHL followers may remember his outstanding finish against Lille in a previous Wettingen campaign.
In goal, Lukas Egloff is another product of the Rotweiss junior system. The current senior Swiss international returned in summer 2025 after spells in England with Hampstead & Westminster HC and Old Cranleighans HC.
British coach Mike Hughes arrived in summer 2025 from Indian Gymkhana Hockey Club. He previously worked with Old Georgians HC at EHL level. I

CAM 92 (FRA)
Qualified as French regular season winners
8th EHL appearance
Best finish: 9th place (2025/26)
Current league form: 5th place – one win and three draws
CAM 92 are leading into EHL Men ROUND1 games against Rotweiss Wettingen and Lisnagarvey in October with a young panel with 16 of the 24 players named in their panel aged 23 or younger.
Among the key men is goalkeeper Marius Clément was the second goalkeeper for the French side at the World Cup during the summer.
There he joined eight players who have come through the club – Lucas Montecot, Mathis and Timothée Clément, Xavier Esmenjaud, Mattéo Desgouillons, Louis Haertelmeyer, Eliot Curty and Corentin Sellier – but have since moved to clubs in Belgium.
The ever-present with the club is coach Aymeric Bergamo who continues to have been involved with each of Montrouge’s EHL adventures either as a player or as a coach.
The current leading lights are captain Antonin Igau who produced a glorious hat-trick at last year’s EHL KO16 in Barcelona while Tom Gaillard, Rafael Stab, Lorrazuri and James Liddiard were in the French Under-21 Junior World Cup team last December.
Erwan Brodt and Nathan Tchakonté were both U-21 internationals a year before, showing the club continues to develop young talent.

Lisnagarvey (IRL)
- Ireland champions
- 4th EHL appearance
- Best finish: 9th place (2022/23)
- Current league form: 1st place – three wins
Lisnagarvey start the campaign with a very settled side with Patrick Rose the main addition after four years playing for Loughborough University in England.
On the flip side, Milo Thompson has joined Bundesliga side Berliner SC while John Cunningham has moved to Three Rock Rovers in Dublin.
But the majority of the panel has been together for a number of year with Ryan Getty, Daniel and Matthew Nelson, Mark McNellis, James Milliken and Peter McKibbin all being part of the side who played in the EHL in Eindhoven at Easter 2017.
The coach is also the same with the hugely successful Erroll Lutton continuing in the role, with Steven Arbuthnot continuing his role as assistant.
McKibbin, Mark McNellis, Matt Nelson and Jonny Lynch – who scored a hat trick against Malaysia – were all part of the Ireland side that played in the World Cup during the summer.
And they have a number of exciting prospects coming through like Harry Archbold who has scored several times already this season in an unbeaten run in the Kirk Cup and the EYHL this season.
In the EHL, they return after a four year break to the top tier after three consecutive EuroHockey Trophy appearances: first in 2024 (Lousada), second in 2025 (Lisburn) and third in 2026 (Vienna).
They now look forward to a meeting with Swiss champions Rotweiss Wettingen and a rematch against CAM 92 whom they fell to in a shoot-out in 2025 in the Trophy decider.
