EHL: EHL Women’s avenue to earn ranking points expanded

The avenue to earn points for the Euro Hockey League Women’s ranking table will be expanded in the 2023/24 season.

For the 2023/24 season, the third-tier competition will be renamed the EuroHockey Club Trophy II, changing from EuroHockey Club Challenge I, with each entering club earning points for their respective nation.

The move will mean both the women’s and men’s ranking tables will now follow a similar format with performances in each of the top three divisions of European club hockey counting toward the allocation of Euro Hockey League places.

Following the conclusion of the 2022/23 outdoor Euro Hockey League, EuroHockey Club Trophy and Challenge events, the make-up of the top tier EHL Women remains the same.

The Netherlands remain clear at the top of the points table following Den Bosch’s second EHL success in the last three seasons at Easter.

They will get two places along with Spain thanks to Club de Campo de Madrid’s run to the GRAND FINAL and Sanse Complutense’s fourth place finish.

Germany, Belgium and England will all receive one place as will Ireland whose sixth place in the ranking was confirmed following the conclusion of the EuroHockey Club Challenge I.

Seven of the eight nations represented in the second tier competition remain the same. France’s top seed is replaced by Scotland’s champions in the one change in Trophy I for 2024.

They will join Belgium and England’s second seed along with the champions from Ukraine, Switzerland, Italy and the Czech Republic.

In Trophy II, the Czech, Irish and Scottish second seeds will compete along with the top seed from France, Türkiye, Lithuania, Austria and Wales.
