EHL: Léo edge out HTHC to reach KO8 after intense battle

Royal Léopold won a high quality battle with Harvestehuder THC to ensure two Belgian sides will be active on Sunday in the KO8.

For HTHC, they were unable to grab a late equaliser in a rousing finale as Léo defended superbly in front of the pads of Romain Henet.

Léo had the big chances in the first half with Anton Brinckman kept busy to deny Tom Boon low down in the first few minutes and then again on the dive as the striker’s rising shot was destined for the top corner.

Boon’s goal duly arrived in the 18th minute with a low drag-flick clattering the backboard. The second half saw HTHC roar back into contention with Fülöp Losonci’s low drag well saved by Henet who also brilliantly kept out Nqobile Ntuli’s flip-shot at point-blank range.

And the Léo defence just about scrambled away the last chance in the closing 20 seconds to nick a place in the KO8 against Post SV.

For HTHC, they will now play in the Ranking Match against Rotweiss Wettingen.
