EHL: Loreto within two points of league title

Despite dropping their first points of the women’s EY Hockey League campaign, Loreto took a big step further toward the regular season title.

Their 1-1 draw with Railway Union left them 14 points clear of the table and needing just one more win from their closing four games of the competition.

Loreto shaded the first half in terms of scoring opportunities and capitalized on the first penalty corner they were awarded, Sarah Torrans scoring in the 25th minute.

It stayed that way until 15 minutes from the end when Lily Lloyd found the leveller and Railway attempted to push on to get a win which would keep the title chase a little more alive.

Loreto, meanwhile, had a Siofra O’Brien (pictured) effort disallowed which meant a share of the spoils. It did see second placed Railway end Loreto’s perfect record in the league, meaning the official coronation will be moved back to at least March 16th.
