EHL: Old Georgians dominate first English indoor weekend

Old Georgians put in a dominant set of performances to lead the way in the English men’s indoor Premier Division.

They netted 31 times across four games over the weekend with four wins to their name as a result.

Five of them came from James Carson (pictured) in a 7-1 opening win over East Grinstead with Ashley Jackson getting over his younger brother Wesley who was the opposition coach.

They followed up with a 9-3 win against Ashmoor on Saturday and then, on Sunday morning, defeated Surbiton 9-1. They closed out the weekend series with a 6-3 victory over Sevenoaks.

It leaves them as the only side with a 100% record ahead of next weekend when they will face Wimbledon, Team Bath Buccaneers, Hampstead & Westminster and Holcombe.

On the women’s side, EHL-bound East Grinstead are unbeaten in second place with 10 points out of 12 to their name.

They edged out Surbiton to start with 2-1 and then swept aside reigning champions Repton 8-1.

A last minute Chloe Brown earned them a 2-2 draw against Slough, completing a big comeback having trailed 2-0 with two minutes left.

And they added a 3-2 success against Harleston Magpies in game four to stay very much in the mix for a place at the Super 6s finals weekend.

Buckingham lead the table with four wins from four with Slough level with EG on 10 points. There is then a four-point gap to the chasers Surbiton and Guildford in a share of fourth spot.
