Switzerland’s most successful field hockey club HC Rotweiss Wettingen are looking to turn progress into results as they bid to become their country’s first club to win on the EHL stage.
In three of the past four years, Swiss clubs have gone to shoot-outs in the KO16 – including Rotweiss twice – in pursuit of victory.
This time, they are looking to use the momentum from their strong start to the national league with five wins from five to bring them onto the European stage in good shape for ROUND1 battles with Lisnagarvey and CAM 92.
Captain Michèl Morard anchors the defence. A lifelong Rotweiss player and current Swiss international, he brings continuity and leadership to the side.

At the other end, Mika Conrad is the player to watch: the homegrown forward was the national league’s leading scorer last season and remains Wettingen’s main attacking threat.
The midfield features two players with experience abroad. Facundo Harte joined last season from Hannover TSV in Germany and has also played in Belgium.
A current Italy international, he brings another international perspective to the group. Away from the first team, he has worked with young players as head coach of Swiss Hockey’s U14 Boys East squad.
Jonas Winkler has spent time with Uhlenhorster HC and Klipper Hamburg in Germany. EHL followers may remember his outstanding finish against Lille in a previous Wettingen campaign.
In goal, Lukas Egloff is another product of the Rotweiss junior system. The current senior Swiss international returned in summer 2025 after spells in England with Hampstead & Westminster HC and Old Cranleighans HC.
British coach Mike Hughes arrived in summer 2025 from Indian Gymkhana Hockey Club. He previously worked with Old Georgians HC at EHL level. In his first season at Wettingen, he led the team to domestic success and established a clearer structure and style of play.
