Wednesday, September 16: Wednesday, September 16: The EY Hockey League, Ireland’s topflight hockey competition, returns this Saturday, September 19, as ten women’s & ten men’s side ready themselves to once again battle it out for top national honours.
In the Men’s EYHL, it’s a baptism of fire for newly promoted Portrane who travel north to take on 2025/26 EY Hockey League & EY Champions Trophy winners Lisnagarvey in their first ever topflight outing. Two rivals face off in Dublin as Monkstown host Avoca and Pembroke Wanderers face Corinthian. YMCA will look to cause an early upset as they host last season’s runners-up, Banbridge. And Cork Harlequins make their EYHL return against a new look Three Rock Rovers side now under the leadership of head coach Aidan Khares.
In the Women’s EYHL, six early in-province battles kick off proceedings as Loreto take on UCD in hopes of early success as they pursue a fourth successive EYHL title. Railway Union travel to take on topflight returnees Monkstown, and Old Alex host Pembroke in an early test for both sides. In Ulster, Pegasus host rivals Ards, while Queen’s and Portadown meet again as both look to build on successful debut seasons last year.
