The marathon will begin with junior matches in the afternoon, subsequently giving way to a succession of adult games. A diverse array of teams, including those from Hereford sixth form, Nomads/Vets, U18s, Gwent Hockey Club, alongside teachers, coaches, and the club’s developmental and junior sections, are set to participate.

As the event draws near, the club is on a promising path having already doubled its fundraising target of £1,500. The proceeds are earmarked for supporting the club’s operational needs, encompassing pitch hire, coaching, and equipment. In a heartfelt gesture, 20% of the proceeds will be donated to Yeleni, a local cancer support charity, a decision made by the family and girlfriend of Mike Broady. Mike, a former player, at Hereford HC, whose life was tragically cut short by cancer at the age of 35, will be honoured through this contribution.

Mike Broady’s journey with hockey began in his late primary school years, joining the club’s junior training sessions at the tender age of 11. By 12, he was a full club member, making his first team debut at 15 and continuing to play until the 2016/17 season. Remembered for his boundless enthusiasm and remarkable talent, Mike’s absence is profoundly felt within the club. During this challenging time, our thoughts remain with his family, as we come together to celebrate his legacy and support a cause close to his heart.
