As the 2026 ONE Active Hockey One season approaches, the Perth Thundersticks are preparing to take on the competition with an exciting mix of established stars and emerging talent.

Perth Thundersticks and Hockey WA are proud to announce the athletes selected in the 2026 Women’s and Men’s squads for the upcoming Hockey One season.

The Women’s side are set to make a strong return in 2026, with 19 players from the squad that secured back-to-back Hockey One championships named once again.

Their memorable 2025 campaign culminated in a second consecutive Hockey One Women’s Championship, making history as the first team to claim back-to-back titles. With much of the championship-winning core retained, the side will be eager to build on that success.

Adding further depth to the squad are five exciting newcomers. Beatrice Bell, Bella Connelly, Sophie Nation, Emma Reid and Jaeda Ritchie have all earned their first opportunity to compete in Hockey One and will look to make an immediate impact.

The squad also welcomes back Elyssa Melville, who returns to the Thundersticks after missing the 2025 season, alongside Pippa Morgan, who was sidelined last year through injury.

For the Men’s squad, 15 players from the 2025 squad have been retained as the team looks to rebound from last season and return to championship contention.

Player development remains a key focus for the program, with 10 new faces selected to strengthen the 2026 line-up.

The incoming group is highlighted by the addition of German midfielder Johannes Grosse and former Kookaburra Flynn Ogilvie, who returns to Hockey One after previously representing NSW Pride in 2023.

Experienced recruits Ben O’Grady, arriving from Adelaide Fire, and Daykin Stanger, joining from Brisbane Blaze, will also bring valuable leadership and depth to the squad.

Meanwhile, Jaxon Browne, Matthew Edwards, Charlie Johnston, Mitchell Pace, Jonah Pilatti and Ethan Yem will be keen to make their mark as they embark on their Hockey One journeys for the first time.

Perth Thundersticks General Manager, Shayley McGurk-Davy said the annual squad announcement is an exciting opportunity to recognise the athletes who have earned their place in the program.

“The depth across both squads is a real positive, with strong competition for places and a great mix of experienced players and emerging talent,” she said.

“That depth is a credit to our clubs, coaches and pathway programs that continue to develop high-quality players across the state,” she said.

“For many of our younger players, these squads represent the next step in their hockey journey and highlights the opportunities available through our pathway.

“Selection for the Perth Thundersticks is earned, and every athlete named has demonstrated the performance, commitment and resilience required to represent Western Australia.

“Both squads bring together proven leaders, returning champions and emerging talent.

“We are proud of the depth across our programs and look forward to seeing these athletes compete for WA throughout the 2026 Hockey One season.”
