As a storm brews ahead of the 2024 Hockey One season, the Perth Thundersticks has welcomed a new member into the fold.
Perth Thundersticks and Hockey WA are thrilled to announce the addition of Dutch international Eva Drummond (née De Goede) to our squad.
As a star athlete known for her exceptional skills and sportsmanship, Eva will bring a wealth of talent, experience, and inspiration to our team, marking a significant milestone in our journey towards excellence.
Throughout Drummond’s illustrious career – including 266 international caps for the Netherlands, she has become a three-time Olympic gold medallist (2008, 2012, 2020), a three-time World Cup gold medallist (2014, 2018, 2022), and a two-time FIH Player of the Year (2018, 2020).
Drummond’s signing marks the first time an International Import has been signed to the Perth Thundersticks since the inception of the Hockey One league.
Perth Thundersticks is one of four Hockey One clubs that are permitted by the League to have one male and one female International Athlete, in line with the International Footprint pillar of the Hockey One Strategic Plan.
Drummond provides a welcome addition to the Women’s program, off the back of the squad winning their back-to-back bronze medals in the 2023 Hockey One season.
Drummond said she was excited to join the Perth Thundersticks and contribute to its success.
“This team has a rich history and a bright future, and I am eager to be part of this journey,” she said.
“I can’t wait to meet my new teammates and start working towards our shared goals.”
“We are ecstatic to welcome Eva to the Perth Thundersticks,” Hockey WA CEO Fabian Ross said.
“Eva’s talent and experience are unparalleled, and we believe she will be an invaluable asset to our program.
“She exemplifies the dedication, discipline and perseverance required to succeed at the highest levels of sport.
“We look forward to her presence inspiring and mentoring our team members to achieve great things together.”
