HockeyOne: Match ups confirmed for 2023 Finals Main Event

The stage is set for an enthralling crescendo to the JDH Hockey One League 2023 Season this weekend following the confirmation of the tantalising match ups for the women’s and men’s semi finals.

All roads lead to Canberra as the top four men’s and women’s teams prepare to compete in the Finals Main Event on 25-26 November at the National Hockey Centre.

Tickets are on sale now at hockeyone.com.au and every match of the finals will be LIVE and free on 7plus.

The last round of the regular season saw Brisbane Blaze edge out NSW Pride to win the inaugural One Hockey Cup, awarded to the franchise that ranks highest based on the aggregate scores of their Women’s and Men’s teams.

Following their win over HC Melbourne on Friday night, Canberra Chill joins the Perth Thundersticks, Brisbane Blaze and defending champions NSW Pride as the four remaining contenders in the women’s competition.

Meanwhile, HC Melbourne and the Tassie Tigers confirmed their place in the men’s semi finals alongside Brisbane Blaze and the NSW Pride, who are attempting to claim a historic three-peat.

HC Melbourne Men progressed after defeating Canberra Chill in the last round to set up a semi final showdown against a red hot Brisbane Blaze.

The Tassie Tigers, who scraped into the top four on goal difference, take on defending champions NSW Pride in the other men’s semi final.

A super Saturday will begin with Brisbane Blaze Women against Perth Thundersticks Women, followed by NSW Pride and Tassie Tigers in the Men’s first semi final.

Women’s semi final 2 follows with fierce rivals NSW Pride taking on Canberra Chill for a spot in the big dance, with Brisbane Blaze and HC Melbourne Men to do battle to round off four do-or-die encounters.

Grand Final day on Sunday hits off with the women’s and men’s 3rd v 4th playoffs from 11.30am. The women’s grand final will follow at 3.30pm local time before the men’s decider at 5.30pm.

“This season has seen a host of amazing matches and phenomenal individual and team performances,” said JDH Hockey One League Executive Manager Sash Herceg.

“Each of the teams who have qualified for the finals deserve to contend for the trophy on the last weekend of the season, so the hockey in Canberra is guaranteed to go to yet another level.”

“The appeal and quality of the JDH Hockey One League continues to grow. The hockey on show at the Finals Main Event will be as good as any domestic league in the world.”

“The Canberra sporting public have turned out in their droves for matches this season. Coupled with the influx of fans from interstate, it is going to be a fantastic atmosphere over the two days.”
