~Hockey Himachal and Hockey Punjab won in Sub Junior Men’s category matches~
New Delhi, 5th October 2023: Hockey Haryana and Hockey Himachal registered wins in their respective matches in the Sub Junior Women’s category, while Hockey Himachal and Hockey Punjab emerged victorious in their respective games in the Sub Junior Men’s category on the fourth day of the 1st Hockey India Sub Junior Men & Women North Zone Championship 2023 in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh.
The first match of the day ended with Hockey Haryana beating Uttar Pradesh Hockey by 3-2 in a tightly contested match in the Sub Junior Women’s category. Hockey Haryana’s Captain Diksha (2’) scored the first goal of the game, followed by goals from Megha (5’) and Seema (17’) to grant Hockey Haryana a solid lead. Rashmi Raikwar (30’, 39’) scored a brace in the second half to initiate a comeback for Uttar Pradesh Hockey but failed to capitalise further.
Hockey Himachal beat Hockey Uttarakhand by 5-1 in the second match of the Sub Junior Women’s category. The goalscorers for Hockey Himachal were Yamini (11’), Palak Chaudhary (12’, 26’), Shikha Saini (40’) and Kaur Navneet (53’). Meanwhile, Mansi Katariya (13’) scored the only goal for Hockey Uttarakhand.
The third match of the day ended as a thrilling 3-3 draw between Hockey Haryana and Uttar Pradesh Hockey in the Sub Junior Men’s category. Captain Ali Shahrukh (21’), Satyam Pandey (35’), and Ajit Pal (41’) were the goalscorers for Uttar Pradesh Hockey, while Harsh (35’) and Rohit Singh (47’, 57’) scored to salvage a point for Hockey Haryana.
Hockey Himachal beat Hockey Uttarakhand by 4-2 in the fourth match of the day in the Sub Junior Men’s category. The goalscorers for Hockey Himachal were Shivansh (8’), Manpreet Singh (23’, 24’), and Amandeep (54’), while Vishal Kumar (4’) and Gopindra (51’) got on the scoresheet for Hockey Uttarakhand.
The last match of the day saw Hockey Punjab win against Hockey Chandigarh by 5-1 in the Sub Junior Men’s category. Ajaypal Singh (1’, 40’, 45’) scored a hat-trick and was joined by Sukhdev Singh (7’), and Charanjeet Singh (21’) to build a comfortable lead for Hockey Punjab. The lone goal for Hockey Chandigarh was scored by Suraj Kumar Sah (25’).
