Expression of interest
Hockey Ireland recognises the need for people with a range of knowledge and skills to develop players at all levels of the player pathway. The Performance Coach Pathway will assist in developing these skills within our coaching population.
With this in mind, we are seeking expressions of interest to be involved in the performance coaching pathway. This pathway will operate both as an extension and a supplement to the current Coach Education pathway.
The pathway will initially have three points of access and the programmes and criteria of each are listed below.
ELITE Performance Coaching Programme
Entry Criteria (subject to interview and references)
Coaches applying for this level should
- Have the intention to progress their coaching career into a professional environment and the commitment to make the necessary life choices to do so in the future.
- Have an understanding of the requirements of modern high-performance hockey.
- Have demonstrated performance level success as a head coach within the last 5 years and shown the ability the develop international standard players OR have significant High Performance playing experience OR have been identified within Pathway programmes.
- Have a willingness to work within the Hockey Ireland Pathway
The Programme
Coaches on this programme will
- Be prioritised for HI Level 3 (Self funded)
- Be considered for EHF courses (HI Funding assistance)
- Have Assess to HI Coach developer (10-12 days)
- Be supported through an individualised development plan.
- Receive access to coach development days (Hockey and other sports)
- Receive invites to Senior and U21 Training camps.
- Support the development of other coaches in the Pathway programme.
Evolve Performance Coaching Programme
Entry Criteria (subject to interview and references)
Coaches applying for this level should.
- Be currently involved in Pathway coaching with Hockey Ireland
- Be working with current interprovincial panels and been identified as possible Pathway staff
- Have demonstrated success in coaching career OR have significant international playing experience (Senior or pathway) OR been identified within Hockey Ireland coaching pathway
The Programme
Coaches on this programme will
- Be prioritised for HI courses (Self funded)
- Be considered for EHF courses (HI Funding assistance)
- Have access to HI Coach developer.
- Receive regular feedback
- Receive access to Hockey Ireland Stepping stones courses
- Receive invite to Pathway Training camps.
- Receive invite to an online coaching community.
ENTRY Performance Coaching Programme
Entry Criteria (subject to interview and references)
Coaches applying for this level should
- Have a Level 1 coaching award with aspiration to Level 2
- Be coaching at an appropriate level.
- Demonstrate a commitment to work with Provincial teams.
- Demonstrate an understanding of performance hockey.
Coaches on this programme will
- Be prioritised for HI courses (Self-funded)
- Have access to online Stepping stones courses
- Receive invites to Pathway camps for education days.
