The Women’s and Men’s Great Britain Hockey squads have both qualified for the Paris Olympics.
Scotland internationalists Sarah Robertson; Amy Costello; Katie Robertson; and Lee Morton all featured in the qualifying matches that saw the men finish second, and the women third, in the qualifiers.
During the qualifiers, Sarah Robertson earned her 200th combined cap, while Amy Costello won her 50th GB cap – fantastic achievements for both.
GB’s women beat Ireland 2-1 in the FIH qualifiers bronze-medal match, with both sides needing to win to qualify for the Games, with Katie Robertson providing the winning goal.
Meanwhile, GB’s men beat New Zealand 3-1 in their qualifier semi-finals clash to secure their spot in Paris. The men lost 1-0 to Germany in the final of the FIH Qualifiers 2024, with Olympic qualification already in the bag.
The men’s squad began their journey with a 6-1 victory over Pakistan before a 4-1 victory over Malaysia. They then beat China 6-0 before their victory over New Zealand in the semi-final.
Great Britain women got off to a winning start with a 2-0 win against Canada, with Katie Robertson scoring the second, before a 1-0 defeat to Spain. They then defeated Malaysia 8-1 before losing 3-2 to Belgium in the semi-final, ahead of the bronze medal win against Ireland.
