Edinburgh University moved to within three points of men’s Premiership leaders Grange after a narrow 3-2 win at Uddingston to complete a weekend of back-to-back victories having seen off Western 6-4 on Saturday. And they play Grange this coming weekend in a joust for pole position.
Uddingston will be disappointed not to get something from the contest but they still retain fifth spot on goal difference from Inverleith and Hillhead in the race for a coveted top six spot.
It was a ding-dong affair with the students always in front after Keir Robb scored from the spot in the opening exchanges, the other goals came from Sam Hunt at a penalty corner and Tom Cahalin from close range. Uddingston`s two equalisers were from Ben Young and Luca Gardiner.
Meanwhile at Titwood FSEG Clydesdale men ended their winless streak with a comfortable 4-0 score over second bottom ESM. Andrew Allan was top scorer with a double while the other strikes came from Ethan Robertson and new signing Cameron Moran. Clydesdale remain in eighth place in the table but move closer to that top six threshold.
