Thursday, April 16: Hockey Ireland are delighted to announce that Three Rock Rovers Hockey Club will host the 2026 AIG Irish Senior Cup Finals, taking place on Saturday, May 2.
The AIG Irish Senior Cup is one of the most prestigious competitions in world hockey, proudly holding the distinction of being the world’s oldest club hockey cup. The Men’s competition dates back to 1893, with the Women’s competition following in 1903, underscoring the rich heritage and tradition of the tournament.
Finals day will see the very best of Irish club hockey on display, as the country’s top teams compete for one of the sport’s most coveted titles. Last season’s champions, Lisnagarvey (Men) and Railway Union (Women), will both feature in this year’s finals as they aim to secure a historic third consecutive title.
A three-in-a-row achievement would mark a significant milestone in the Women’s competition, a feat not accomplished since Pembroke Wanderers Hockey Club won four consecutive titles from 1947 to 1950. In the Men’s competition, Lisnagarvey themselves were the last club to reach such heights, dominating Irish hockey with seven consecutive titles between 1988 and 1994.
Standing between both sides and the title is the fierce competition of Three Rock Rovers (Men) and Monkstown Hockey Club (Women), with the former looking to secure their first AIG Irish Senior Cup of the decade, while the latter aspires to replicate their historic cup run in 2023 which saw Monkstown overcome Catholic Institute to lift their first AIG Irish Senior Cup in the club’s history.
In addition to the Senior Cup Finals, Three Rock Rovers Hockey Club will also host the Irish Junior Cup Finals on the same day. The Women’s and Men’s Junior Cup Finals will take place on the morning of May 2, building towards an action-packed afternoon of Senior Cup deciders and creating a truly historic and festival-like occasion for Irish hockey fans.
With limited capacity at the venue Hockey Ireland urges fans to purchase their tickets early to avoid disappointment. Prices start at EUR 6.00 with concessions available for U18s and each match will be ticketed separately with all-day access also available. Tickets for the AIG Irish Senior Cup & Irish Junior Cup finals are available now on hockey.ie.
